MS fittings refer to mild steel pipe fittings used to connect, redirect, or regulate the flow of fluids and gases in industrial and commercial piping systems.

Key Characteristics

• Material Composition: Fabricated from low-carbon steel, providing high tensile strength, ductility, and good shock resistance.

• Weldability and Formability: Mild steel is easily welded, cut, and shaped, making installation and custom fabrication straightforward.

• Corrosion Vulnerability: Untreated mild steel is prone to oxidation and rust. To combat this, MS fittings are frequently galvanized (coated with a layer of zinc), painted, or epoxy-coated depending on the operational environment.

Common Types of MS Fittings

• Elbows: Used to change the directional flow of the pipe, typically at 45 or 90 angles.

• Tees and Crosses: Used to split or combine fluid streams, offering three-way or four-way junctions.

• Reducers: Used to transition between pipes of different diameters (concentric or eccentric).

• Couplings and Unions: Used to join two straight sections of pipe permanently or semi-permanently.

• Flanges: Bolted connection rings that allow pipes to attach securely to valves, pumps, or other equipment for easy maintenance access.

Primary Applications

Due to their high durability and cost-effectiveness relative to stainless steel or specialized alloys, MS fittings are widely deployed in water supply networks, fire protection systems, HVAC installations, structural scaffolding, and general manufacturing plants.
